When I saw this guy on a stump in Rocky Mountain National Park, I was amazed. The color scheme on these beauties is so different from the jays I knew growing up.
Cyanocitta stelleri
Bryce Canyon - Sunrise Point
This was taken at Sunrise Point, Bryce Canyon, UT. The park was incredibly busy, so we could only really stop to stamp the National Park passport and grab this photo.
View of Omaha from River's Edge Park
Bit of an odd photo, this one, as the logo in the foreground is the Council Bluffs "un" insignia, right in front of Omaha. This intriguedme, and I took a picture.
The Oasis - North Platte, Nebraska
Whenever we go west, we stop in North Platte at Fort Cody and this Sinclair Station. This cowboy dinosaur has been there for as long as I can remember, so the first time we stopped and I had my camera, I got a picture. The mask also adds something, I fee.
Sparkler thingy
From Independence Day. I believe it was called a white peony spark spinner.
Clouds
American White Pelicans - Ashland, Nebraska
Taken on the final leg of the drive through safari park in Ashland, Nebraska. This was one of the photos that started me on wildlife photography.
Pelecanidae Erythrorhyncos
Doe Elk
Botna Bend Park, Hancock, Iowa. She was very close to the fence, so my zoom lens got a really tight shot.
Cervus Canadensis
Anita Church Sign
I love old wooden church signs. This one in Anita, Iowa got my attention as we passed it on the gravel road, so I had to get out and grab a photo.
Grand Canyon - North RIm and Isis Temple formation
No words can describe the scale of this image.
Moss Microworld
I honestly don't remember where this was taken, but it was a test of my new lens and turned out nice enough to keep.
Bumblebee - De Soto National Wildlife Refuge
Taken in the goldenrod field just off the Dogwood trail.
Grand Canyon South Rim
This was taken at sunset on the South Rim. The view here is genuinely stunning.
Wasp - De Soto Bend National WIldlife Refuge
Taken in the same field as the bumblebee image. Insects abound in this park and for the most part, go about their business unbothered.
Tall Prairie Grass - unknown, Iowa
Taken at a smaller park in Iowa. Unfortunately, I just took it to get practice and did not write down where.
Mower Blade - unknown, Iowa
Same as the previous image, I took this for practice and di not write down location.
McCormick-Deering Tractor - unknown, Iowa
Last of the unknown images.
Eugene T. Mahoney State Park in Fall
On a story regarding Nebraska parks, I took this key image for the web article and liked it so much I put it up here.
American Pokeweed - De Soto Bend National WIldlife Refuge
Taken on the Dogwood trail. Fun fact: Natives use(d) these to make paint/dye.
Phytolacca Decandra
Sugarloaf Mountain, Snowy Range, Medicine Bow National Forest
I consider this the capstone of my photos, as it is unedited. The lighting and composition were exquisite; I just captured the moment as it was.
Yellow-Bellied Marmot - Mirror Lake, Wyoming
Thought this Rock Pig deserved some attention. He was probably 50 yards away here, but his very angry screams were well-heard. I absolutely love montane wildlife, and sitting on a boulder for twenty minutes for this shot was worth every second.
